Incumbent's Voting History

Historical Voting Record of the LD 48 Incumbent

Over the last 7 years, we have had an incumbent who I’m deeply concerned about the direction the current incumbent in LD48 has supported over the last seven years. She has backed several bills that have turned into laws, that will have a major impact on our economy, energy reliability, and individual freedoms. Two of the most concerning energy laws deal with zero carbon emissions.

Her voting record can be found here:                                         - 48th LD 7-Year Incumbent Political Summary

Energy Policy – Carbon Emissions

The LD48 incumbent’s support for SB 5126 and SB 5116 mandates zero carbon emissions by 2050 and 100% carbon-free energy by 2045. While intended to address climate change, these laws could drive up household energy costs by 15-20%, raise small business operating expenses, and risk grid reliability. Additionally, stringent regulations could hurt economic competitiveness, discouraging investment and local job growth. Environmental policies should balance sustainability with affordability and practicality to protect our economy and community.

Energy Policy - HB 1589 Prohibits Any New Natural Gas Line Construction in the State

The LD48 incumbent supported HB 1589, which prohibits new natural gas line construction in Washington, forcing new homes and businesses to rely solely on electricity. This policy increases costs for households and businesses while limiting energy options, especially during power outages. Natural gas has long provided a safe, cost-effective backup, and eliminating it could leave newer constructions vulnerable during extreme weather. Energy policies should prioritize both environmental goals and practical, affordable solutions that protect consumer choice.

Energy Policy - State Goal of Stopping Gas-Powered Vehicle Production

The LD48 incumbent’s support of SB 5974, aiming to end gas-powered vehicle production by 2030, could limit transportation options and impose high costs on families. While funding alternative energy and public transit sounds beneficial, the reality is that electric vehicles remain expensive and charging infrastructure is limited. This policy risks leaving everyday citizens, especially those on tight budgets, with fewer affordable options. Sustainable energy policies should balance environmental goals with practical solutions that protect personal freedom and economic well-being.

Gender, Affirmative Action, DEI: Impact on Families

In this video, I discuss how current policies on gender transformation, affirmative action, and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) impact our families. Supported by the LD48 7-year incumbent, these initiatives often undermine parental rights and emphasize diversity quotas over qualifications. Parents, not the government, should guide their children’s upbringing, and businesses should prioritize merit.

Public Safety – Restrict Law Enforcement

Our community’s safety is being compromised by extreme policies supported by the 48th LD incumbent. HB 1054 restricts police pursuits and tactics, making it harder for officers to respond swiftly in emergencies. HB 1579’s added prosecutorial oversight may deter officers from taking necessary action, weakening public safety. These policies prioritize restrictions over protection, risking the well-being of our communities.

Rental Regulations and Property Rights

The LD48 incumbent has supported restrictive rental bills (HB 1236, SB 5600, and HB 2114) that limit property rights and increase financial risks for landlords. HB 1236 restricts eviction options, even in cases of unlawful activity, while SB 5600 and HB 2114 add costly notice requirements and caps on rent hikes. Though aimed at tenant protection, these policies could discourage investment in rental properties, limit housing supply, and drive up costs for tenants. Balanced policies are needed to support both property owners and tenants, ensuring fair and sustainable housing.

Public Safety – Illegal Immigration

The 48th LD incumbent supported HB 1889, which allows illegal immigrants to obtain professional licenses using taxpayer IDs, while state agencies are barred from disclosing these IDs. This law also links new enhanced driver’s licenses to automatic voter registration, raising concerns about election integrity. These policies incentivize illegal immigration and may compromise opportunities for lawful residents. Voting rights belong to American citizens, and laws should ensure fairness and security in licensing and voter eligibility.

Public Safety - Sanctuary State and Its Consequences SB 5497

Washington’s sanctuary state policy, supported by the 48th LD incumbent, restricts local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, allowing illegal activities to slip through the cracks. While intended to build trust, SB 5497 creates a safe haven for those who exploit our communities, contributing to issues like drug trafficking and the fentanyl crisis impacting our youth. This policy burdens our law enforcement and weakens our defenses against deadly drugs that devastate families. We need balanced policies that protect public safety and uphold the rule of law, not ones that shelter criminals.
